The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has announced the indefinite expulsion of 10 members of the group's dissolved Third Directorate of State (DOS).
In a statement released from Germany on June 21, 2026, Kanu said the affected individuals had ceased to be members of IPOB and were no longer authorized to represent or act on behalf of the movement.
Those expelled are Chika Edoziem, Tony Nzurumike, Austin Agbanyim, Chukwudi Oforma, Isaiah Ubah, Colins Chinedu, Chinasa Nworu, Fidelis Ejiogu, Chidinma Nworu, also known as Juliet Edward Filatro, and Keke Uda.
Kanu said the decision followed what he described as repeated violations of the IPOB Code of Conduct and the movement's constitution.
According to him, the expelled members were part of the Third Administration of the Directorate of State, which he appointed from detention in March 2017. He noted that although the administration's original tenure ended in September 2017, it remained in office at his discretion.
The IPOB leader alleged that the affected individuals failed to provide adequate legal, welfare and medical support to him and other detained Biafrans. He also accused them of disobeying his directives, undermining his legal efforts, spreading false information, attacking members of his family and altering internal structures of the organization without authorization.
Kanu further alleged that the former officials sought to weaken the movement and pursue interests that were not aligned with the objectives of IPOB.
He maintained that the expulsions were carried out under powers vested in the office of the Supreme Leader and in line with the organization's Code of Conduct.
The IPOB leader warned members and supporters against recognizing or dealing with the expelled individuals in any capacity on behalf of the movement.
He also called on IPOB members worldwide to support the newly constituted Fourth Administration of the Directorate of State led by Chris Nwaogu.
Kanu said the movement remains united and committed to its goals under his leadership despite the latest internal shake-up.
