The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has issued a fresh clarification, firmly declaring that the Monday sit-at-home order remains valid, sacrosanct, and will be observed across the South-East, despite what it described as deliberate misinformation and impersonation.
In a statement signed by Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB warned that individuals allegedly acting as government or political agents while parading as IPOB officials are working to confuse the public and weaken support for its detained leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
IPOB Disowns Ejiofor
The group categorically stated that Ifeanyi Ejiofor no longer represents Mazi Nnamdi Kanu or IPOB, stressing that he was relieved of any role within the movement more than two years ago.
IPOB dismissed as false and misleading any statements or letters attributed to Ejiofor calling for the suspension of the sit-at-home order, urging the public to ignore such directives.
Alleged Plot to Hijack IPOB Leadership
According to the statement, attempts were recently made to pressure Emma Powerful to stop issuing public statements highlighting Kanu’s continued detention. IPOB alleged that following his refusal, moves were made to portray him as irrelevant or “non-existent.”
The group described these actions as a calculated effort to hijack IPOB’s leadership and divert attention from its central demand — the unconditional release of its leader.
DOS Members Accused of Compromise
IPOB further alleged that some individuals appointed into the Directorate of State (DOS) compromised the struggle by allegedly holding meetings with Charles Soludo, aimed at undermining the solidarity shown by traders of Onitsha Main Market.
The organization described such actions as a betrayal of the movement’s principles and a direct affront to supporters.
Fake Resignations, Online Deception
The group warned Nigerians to disregard any resignation letters or statements circulating in the name of Emma Powerful, describing them as fabricated and part of a broader disinformation campaign.
IPOB claimed that anti-Biafra elements have infiltrated online platforms, using the names of IPOB and DOS to spread confusion and disunity.
Media Appearances Confirmed
Emma Powerful announced plans to grant radio, television, and media interviews from Monday through Tuesday morning to further clarify IPOB’s position and counter false narratives.
Final Advisory
IPOB urged Biafrans and residents of the South-East to remain vigilant, ignore misinformation, and fully comply with the Monday sit-at-home order, insisting that the wider IPOB family remains united despite alleged internal compromises.
“Those spreading falsehoods will be exposed. The truth will prevail,” the statement concluded.
